Like and eerie scene from a B-rated alien movie, out popped his little head from an amazingly small incision in my ‘then wife’s’ stomach. The flash from my camera filled the room – this was the happiest day of my life. Since that day over 11 years ago, my ‘then wife’ and I had another beautiful child, also through cesarean delivery. I had not given much thought to the fact that both my children entered this world through a small incision rather than the birth canal until last month, when the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics released its update on births in the US.

30. Colon cleansing and Colon Cancer Prevention - The colon is one of the most important organs in the body. It’s intended purpose is to return water and nutrients into our bodies and help us eliminate waste. American diets are low in fiber and digestive enzymes. This causes the body produce digestive enzymes at the expense of immune system enzymes.
The low level of fiber prevents the colon from cleaning itself and causes a buildup of toxic matter in the colon. The buildup of toxic matter in the colon can lead to many health problems, the most serious of which is colon cancer. The weakened immune system is unable to fight the disease.
Colon cleansing helps the body rid itself of toxic matter. This in turn allows the colon to aid in the digestive process and allows the production of immune system enzymes to return to normal.

34. Do I Have to Cleanse My Colon? - Most people understand how important it is to stay clean on the outside, but few realize that it’s equally important to keep the body clean on the inside. Your body is constantly performing many natural functions to keep itself clean. Most of us take these functions for granted until there’s trouble. Periodic cleansing and detoxifying helps to open up the eliminative channels to keep the body systems running clean, uninhibited by toxin and waste buildup.
Consider the cumulative effects of the years (or decades) of donuts, potato chips, beef and soft drinks. Your digestive and intestinal systems take care of some of that accumulated junk, but these systems were not made to run on refined flours and sugars.
Each of us is at risk for some sort of digestive disease. According to “Colon in Crisis, A Secret Source of Disease” by Dr. Michael Cutler, Colorectal cancers are the second largest cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., obesity increases your odds for colon cancer by 25-33%, and only 25% of Americans eat the recommend 5+ daily servings of fruits and vegetables which are high in fiber, anti-oxidants and promote colon health.

36. Eat Fiber and Avoid Constipation - To have regular bowel movements and escape constipation you need to eat more fiber. Fiber from raw vegetable and fruits is better for you than fiber from grains. Why? Raw vegetables and fruits are live foods with enzymes, minerals, vitamins, and many antioxidants that are charged electrically. They have a magnetic energy that is absorbed by your DNA. So get more fiber from this source and less from grains.
Don't forget about water. If you don't get enough water during the day, your body will take the water out of your fecal matter in the colon and make your stools hard. Drink a minimum of 3 glasses a day of pure water and work up to drinking 5-6.

37. Liver Spring Cleansing - The liver is the second largest organ in the body and the skin is the first. Every year, you can make sure your liver is healthy by doing a liver cleanse during spring.
The liver is responsible for filtering and detoxifying your blood, so you want to make sure that it is in top condition. Many times our liver and body gets overloaded with toxins from the poor food we eat and the unhealthy lifestyles we lead. This can make us feel tired, sluggish and just out of sorts. And, if you want to lose weight, without good liver function, you will find that difficult to do. So, it is a good idea to cleanse the liver at least once a year.
Milk Thistle is an excellent herb that can be used to cleanse and promote health in the liver. Its active ingredient is Silymarin, which helps protect and detoxify the liver. There are many supplements that contain just Milk Thistle or you can find it in combination with other helpful herbs. You can find it in capsule or liquid. I like using the liquid, since it’s easier to carry around and use. After I take my Milk Thistle, I drink 8-10 glasses of distilled water a day. This helps to run more blood through the kidney to clean out the toxins and debris from the blood.

Potassium in your colon wall tissues brings in more oxygen, which is required for good cell function and elimination of toxins. In addition, potassium creates an alkaline environment inside and outside the cell, which help protect cell walls from bacteria, fungus, and other pathogens.

39. Constipation and Natural Remedies - There are two types of constipation, organic and functional. Organic constipation is a result of some physical change, obstruction, or distortion in your colon. This type of constipation needs immediate attention from a doctor. We do not cover constipation that occurs from these reasons. Functional constipation is a result of not following a proper diet, drinking the proper fluids, having good emotional health, and not having the proper lifestyle that promotes good movement of digested foods through the intestines and colon.
Even though there are many conditions, symptoms and definitions describing constipation, constipation simple is, A condition where the fecal matter traveling through your colon remains too long in your colon before traveling out the rectum.
